Hon’ble Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy clarified that the Musi Rejuvenation Project

Hon’ble Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy clarified that the Musi Rejuvenation Project is aimed at securing Hyderabad’s future and no injustice will be done to anyone, especially the poor. Speaking at the #MusiInvites conference on Musi Rejuvenation Phase-1, he said the project is not against anyone nor meant to seize anyone’s property, but to transform Hyderabad into a world-class city.

The CM said around 10,000 poor families living along the Musi have been identified and double-bedroom houses are being arranged in nearby areas so that livelihoods are not affected. Citing global riverfront transformations such as the River Thames, Hudson River, developments in Singapore, Seoul, Dubai, and the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, he said Hyderabad too must move forward with a long-term vision.

He also clarified that misinformation about the project cost is being spread, stating that the Gandhi statue component will cost around ₹75 crore, while the entire Musi Riverfront project is estimated at about ₹6,500–₹7,000 crore.

Recalling the 1908 Musi floods, he noted that Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar were built with foresight to protect the city. With Hyderabad’s population expected to grow from 1.34 crore to nearly 2.5 crore in the next 25 years, the project will help restore the river, boost tourism, create a vibrant night economy and generate jobs.

The Chief Minister urged public representatives, experts and citizens to share constructive suggestions and support the effort to build a future-ready Hyderabad.
